Just some pictures

This is Caleb asking for "one more" of something, I can't remember what it was, probably a strawberry or maybe a pickle ... the boy loves pickles.

Love this smile, you can see it all over his face, especially in those blue eyes.

This little man has some baby blues too.

And this is Caleb's first nap in his 'big boy' bed.  It's actually a toddler bed that we've had for a few months, but he has been completely uninterested in sleeping in it, until today.  He actually wasn't interested today either, but he was having a hard time going to sleep, so I laid with him (yes in a toddler bed, don't judge me, and no...it didn't break) for a few minutes and he fell asleep so I just left him there.

4 months old

This is much more for me than for anyone reading this, so feel free to stop now and come back another day when I have some cute pictures to share or something.

You know how as people have more kids they get more relaxed about things? For example, child #1 goes to bed at exactly 7pm every night, and no ... We cannot go out to dinner because he'll miss bedtime. (ok, so maybe I wasn't that bad, but close) but with child #2 it's more like ... Oh gosh, it's 9pm, we need to get him in bed. Ethan doesn't actually stay up until 9pm, but you get the idea.

Well, with Caleb I bought a baby book months before he was born, began filling it out with everything I could, and continued to fill in information monthly. What he was doing at what age, when he got vaccines, his height and weight, etc.

I finally got Ethan a baby book a few weeks ago. That's not even true. My sister bought Ethan a baby book because she couldn't stand the thought of him not having one. (thanks Rachel!!) Thankfully I've pretty much kept up with stuff on this blog, so even though I'm getting a late start, I have all the information, or at least most of it.

All that to say, Ethan is 4 months old now, which is crazy. Before I know it, he'll be turning 1. Anyways, he's 4 months old and had his doctor's appointment yesterday. He jumped up on his growth chart, at least for weight, and is now in the 25th(ish)percentile, weighing 14lbs. He's still around the 10th percentile for height at 24 inches.

He got 3 vaccines. That's the part I hate. He sits there smiling at the nurse, happy as can be and then he gets stuck and its like, 'hey, you people tricked me!' But he was such a big boy. Literally only cried for about 10 seconds and then he was over it.

So there you go, boring I know, but its information I need to record for myself. If you're still reading this, then you are either my mom, my sister or a true friend, thanks!

I'll try to take/post some new pictures of my little men tomorrow, but no promises :)

Easter Weekend

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade - kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time."   1 Peter 1:3-5

We have had a wonderful Easter weekend, very busy, but very fun.  We started the weekend on Saturday by going to an Easter egg hunt with lots of friends from church.  Caleb had fun gathering eggs, although he really wanted to open each egg after he picked it up.  Unfortunately, my camera battery was dead on Saturday so the only picture I have from that day was taken with Charles' phone and it's not great, but as some of you know, it's hard getting a good picture of 2 little ones!

After lunch and the egg hunt, we headed home for naps before going to a live outdoor concert.  It was an absolutely beautiful night. We again, got to see lots of friends from church, and Caleb got to run, play and dance, dance, dance to the music.  Have I mentioned before that Caleb really loves dancing?  Well, he does.  I'll have to get a video of him dancing before he outgrows this stage.  Ethan loved watching all the people, and getting passed around from person to person.  I love that he's such and easy baby and that we can take him places like that and not have to worry about him being a problem.

Sunday, we woke up early and headed to church.  I had to be there early, so I took Ethan with me.  And Charles and Caleb came a little later.  The service was great, the music beautiful, and the sermon excellent (as usual).

After church we went to my parents house for lunch with lots of family.  This was the first family function where Caleb was old enough to actually enjoy playing with some of his older cousins, and he was hysterical.  He thought he was being so funny, and the older kids were just cracking up as his goofiness.  I've said it before ... he's quite a character!

Thankfully I remembered to charge my camera so I have took lots of pictures.  I'll end this long post with some pictures of our Easter weekend.

Ready to hunt for some eggs!

 Checking out the goods...

 Caleb loves his Aunt Rachel!

Ethan trying out his new toy, and Caleb watching in the background.

Ethan enjoyed hanging out, watching all the people.

I hope everyone had a blessed Easter!

a special weekend

We are at the end of a very fun filled and special weekend.  While Ethan and I spent Saturday afternoon at choir rehearsal, Charles took Caleb to our Sunday School class crawfish boil.  I was disappointed that I had to miss it, but glad that they had a good time.

They went fishing, played some ball, and hung out with friends.  I think we're gonna have a little sportsman on our hands.  I mean, you don't find many 1 year olds that can handle a fishing pole by themselves.

My baby with the fish he caught.  I'm pretty sure it's touching his face...don't ask me why.

Sunday was a special day because Ethan was baptized and we had lots of family and friends celebrate with us.  The boys were all dressed up and looked so sweet.  They both behaved so well during the baptism.  I was one proud Mama.

Disregard the black eye ... I promise I didn't punch him :)

Look at that sweet face.

Our little family.
Caleb still does the "cheese" face when he knows someone is taking his picture.

This little guy was worn out by the end of the day.

We are very blessed to have lots of family and friends to share such a special occasion with.
Thanks to everyone who helped up celebrate!

busy busy

It's been a busy week around here.  For those that don't know, I'm very involved with the music ministry at our church, and teach the kindergarten  choir.

Well they had their spring program on Wednesday night.  They've been practicing these songs since Christmas and they did such a GREAT job.  Not only did they know every word to every song, but they stood so still and quiet and did their very best singing.  That's alot to ask from a group of kindergarten kids.
Aren't they cute?

I let them get all their silliness out before we started.

We also have our adult choir Palm Sunday program on Sunday ... Mendelssohn's Elijah.  It is so hard, but I love singing it.  So we've been practicing, practicing, practicing. And for anyone interested, it's at 6:00pm on Palm Sunday (April 17) at Independent Presbyterian Church.

As if that's not enough for one week, Ethan is also getting baptized Sunday morning and we are having a lunch afterwards at my parents house.  I will make sure to take pictures of him in his sweet baptismal gown and of big brother Caleb all dressed up.

So a busy week and and even busier weekend.

Rainy Day Fun

It's a rainy day today. A very rainy day.

So we spent the morning visiting daddy at work, and hitting the children's museum. Caleb had a blast, and Ethan did great during his first visit to the museum. He slept in his 'sleepy wrap' (I don't know what I would do without that thing) for over an hour, had a bottle while Caleb ate his snack, and just enjoyed watching all the kids playing.

He's a dancing machine.

They had a cute Wizard of Oz exhibit that Caleb really had fun with.

No more curls

I'm sad about this. Caleb got a haircut today and the lady cut way more than I asked her to, resulting in Caleb's first 'big boy' haircut.

His curls are gone. It's a cute haircut, don't get me wrong, he's adorable. But he looks so much older. I'm not sure what I think.

I'll probably let it grow back out and pray that the curls come back, but in the meantime, here's our big boy.

My sweet boy picked me some flowers.

Ok, they're actually weeds...
but they're very pretty weeds.

For some reason, he really wanted me to put them in my hair.  I guess maybe he saw someone with flowers in their hair at some point.  But after being carried around in his sweaty little hands, they were in desperate need of some water.

the dust has finally settled

After 3 months things are finally starting to settle down around here.  Ok, I'll be honest, it's been closer to 4 months, but still, it's finally happening.  Caleb is now 21 months old and quite the character.

Let's just say, he keeps us laughing.
He enjoys playing outside, especially since it's warmed up a bit, and his new love is playing t-ball.

Ethan is 3 months old and still as cute as can be.

These days he's busy eating, sleeping, smiling and strengthening those neck muscles.

He weighs around 12 pounds now, still significantly smaller than Caleb was, but gaining weight well.  You can tell from his chubby cheeks and double chin that he doesn't go hungry around here.

So, things are settling down.  The laundry's not piled up quite as high, the house stays somewhat picked up, we're all dressed by at least lunch time, I'm slowly but surely getting more and more sleep at night and we're getting out of the house more, just in time to enjoy the beautiful spring weather.
